Hello, Eligible Family,
A few weeks ago, my 10-year-old mentee asked me about my business. After sharing a kid-friendly overview, my mentee’s response stopped me in my tracks:
“Adults shouldn’t date. It only leads to people getting hurt and abused.”
Her words were raw and honest, reflecting what she’s experienced in a world that doesn’t always see healthy relationships. But as heartbreaking as her perspective was, it reminded me why Eligible exists.
We’re here as a form of resistance to the current narrative and reality of too many Black men, women, and children.
My mentee’s words remind us that our work is about more than creating another dating platform. Eligible is committed to reshaping how love is seen and experienced in our community. We believe that love is transformative, and we’re on a mission to plant seeds of hope and a vision of love that heals instead of hurts.
Imagine a world where every 10-year-old sees Black love as strong, beautiful, and enduring.
